「とりあえず、概算でいいので見積書ください」
そう依頼したことはありませんか？
「アプリ開発を検討しているのですが、とりあえず概算を知りたいので見積もりください」
我々は、この言葉をよく聞きます。
「とりあえず」「概算で」「見積もる」概算見積書
さて、この概算見積書はどれくらい信頼できるものなのでしょうか？
もちろん、依頼する側の心理としては、10万でできるのか50万なのか、はたまた100万なのか？
全く想像がつかないから、教えてほしいという場合だったり
初めての取引を検討している相手だから、そこの金額感を知りたい
そんな場合だったりします。
しかし、概算見積ほどブレるものはない！
そう思います。ブレる見積金額にどれだけの意味があるのか？という疑問を持つことも少なくありません。
概算見積の精度を上げる方法
ただし、そのブレ具合は
①概算見積を依頼する相手に対してどの程度の本気度を伝えているか
②アプリ開発会社にどの程度のスキルがあるか
③アプリ開発会社がどの程度本気で答えようとしているか
これらによって、変わってきます。
①概算見積を依頼する相手に対してどの程度の本気度を伝えているか
「インスタグラムみたいなアプリを作ったらどれくらいかかります？」
「もう少し、具体的にうかがえますか？」
「インスタグラムそのものでもいいんです、概算で結構です」
「・・・」
アプリ開発会社にしてみれば、「あるある」的なことだと思います。
著名なアプリを引き合いにして、それを作ったらいくらかかるか。
そして、それ以上のことは何もない。
500万くらいですかね、とか、5000万ですなどという答えが返ってくるはず。
なぜなら、アプリ開発会社もまともに考えずに答えを出しているから。
○○みたいなアプリ。
それはいいでしょう。
しかし、もう少し具体的に知りたいという要求に対して、そっけない回答しかない場合というのは、「何となく聞いてみただけ。」「手の届く範囲なら作ってみたいのでとりあえず聞いてみた」「あんなアプリを作ったら、こんな応用ができる！すごいことを思いついたぞ。だけどいくらかかるのかわからない」といったパターンでしょう。
つまり、見積もりを依頼する側の真剣度合が伝わってこないから、返す方もそれなりになるということなのです。
もし、本気度が高く検討されているのならば、引き合いに出したアプリであっても、「あのアプリのこの部分は必須だが、この部分はなくてもいいと考えている。」とか、「あのアプリのあの機能を当社の業務でこのように応用すれば、業務効率が上がる」などという答えが返ってくるはずなのです。
そういう答えが返ってくれば、アプリ開発会社としても、お客様の本気度が伝わってくるので、さらに質問を重ね、互いに意見交換をし、具体的なアプリの完成イメージが共有できることにより、概算見積をするに際しても精度が高まるのは間違いありません。
但し、既に取引がある相手であれば、無責任な答えを返すこともないでしょうし、尋ねる側も概算見積がほしい目的を明確にするでしょうから、いい加減な答えというのはないはずです。
とはいえ、まだ概算の段階だと、次に依存するのは
②アプリ開発会社にどの程度のスキルがあるか
金額が決まっている見積もりの場合、
例えば
このスペックのノートパソコンを10台、デスクトップを30台、光学式マウスを20個という話ならば、
商品単価 × 数量 － 値引き で、決まるでしょう。
しかし、アプリ開発はそうはいきません。
要件定義書があったとして、エンジニアの単価が同じだとしても、見積る会社によって、もっと言うならば、見積もる人によって金額は変わります。
ましてや、概要を取る程度の情報しかない段階では、見積もりを行う人の経験に頼らざるを得ません。
つまり、アプリ開発会社にどの程度、これまで蓄積してきたスキルがあるのかに依存するのです。
例えば、アプリ開発会社 A社、B社、C社がSNSアプリの概算見積を依頼されたとしましょう。
A社はSNSアプリの経験はないけれど、その他のアプリは100本以上経験してきた。
B社はWEBシステムで、SNSを構築したことがあるが、アプリは何も作ったことがない。
C社はSNSを盛り上げる運営を主事業としていたが、その運営ノウハウを活かしてSNSアプリ開発に臨もうと考えているところであった。
先に答えを言うと、どの会社がベストだとは言えません。しかし、各社それぞれのノウハウがあるのです。
A社においては、SNSアプリはなくとも、その他のアプリの経験によって、アプリ開発で注意すべきところ、開発負荷が重いところなどを熟知していると思われるため、依頼者がSNSアプリで必要な機能などについて細かに伝えることができれば頼りになるでしょう。
B社においては、SNSについては知っているようですが、アプリ開発独自のノウハウが不足しているため、そこをどう補うのかが課題になり、依頼者ができることは少ないでしょう。
C社もSNSについて熟知していそうですし、かつ運営サイドからみた新たな提案が期待できるかもしれませんが、やはりアプリ開発のノウハウがないことにはB社同様の問題が付きまといます。
いずれも長短があります、その場合、強い点については見積精度は高まり、弱い点については見積精度は低くなります。
例えばA社は、一つ一つの機能の見積精度は高いながら、SNSに必要な機能を相当少なく考えてしまい、概算見積にブレが生じてしまうといったことです。
このように、どのようなスキルがあるかによって、概算段階での見積もり精度は大きく変わってくるものです。
そして、これがとても重要な点です。
③アプリ開発会社がどの程度本気で答えようとしているか
前項のスキルは当然重要なことなのですが、アプリ開発会社が本気になれば、スキルに欠けている点を補う手段はあるのです。
例えば、自社にないノウハウが必要ならば、そのノウハウを持つところと組む。
依頼者に徹底的に聞く。
プロトタイプを作って、大まかな開発の生産性を判断する。
いずれにせよ、できる範囲には限界があるでしょうが、本気で取り組めば気が付くこともたくさんありますから、概算見積であっても、その精度を少しでも上げることはできるはずなのです。
